Pittsburgh Bucket List!
Hey there!
Here is a quick list of things I've been dying to do in Pittsburgh since the weather became a little warmer! I'm sure there's tons more I can do, but this is my top ten.
1.) Kayak the three rivers || I love kayaking, and tandem boats are also for rent at Kayak Pittsburgh. This has to be the number one thing I want to do before summer ends.
2.) Shop around in the Strip District || I actually went to the Strip with my parents back in the Fall, but I wasn't really paying attention and I didn't see a whole lot. I want to go again and really shop around.
3.) Segway tours || I have always wanted to ride a Segway! They look like a ton of fun, and I'd love to go with my friends or family.
4.) Visit the Carnegie Science Center || Not only is the building a fun shape, they have tons of interesting things to see here. I'm not a huge science fan, but I definitely love cool things.
5.) Go to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium || I adore zoos! I have so much fun walking around and seeing all the different animals. Giraffes are my favorite, so I'd love to just sit on a bench and watch them do their thing. Also, the aquarium sounds like a fun date!
6.) Visit the Andy Warhol Museum || I. Am. Obsessed. I love his art, and I think it would be such a neat experience to see all of his work-and even sit on the couch!
7.) Have high tea at the Omni William Penn Hotel || High tea; how class does that sound? I am definitely a tea person and this might be something I can take my mom to for Mother's Day.
8.) Go to a Pirate's game || Baseball is my favorite sport. The Cardinal's are my favorite team, so maybe I will snag tickets to a game when they come to town. Or go to a free shirt Friday and get a t-shirt sponsored by my own Point Park University. That sounds like a great time.
9.) See a show at the Byham Theater || I am a theater person. I did drama all through high school, and I love watching a good show! This also sounds like a fun date idea.
10.) See a concert at Stage AE || I love concerts! This is such a fun thing to do in the summer, and I can just sit and sing along to my favorite artists.
Coffee in the 'Burgh
HEY THERE!
I don't think I am the only college kid in Pittsburgh absolutely obsessed with coffee...right? Coffee keeps me going and having a Starbucks right on campus is a blessing, honestly. But sometimes I don't want to pay five dollars for a small latte. Sometimes I want a good cup of coffee that I don't have to wait more than fifteen minutes for.
Surprisingly, Pittsburgh has several great little coffee shops! I have compiled a list of these cute cafes; I have explored a few, and some I just read fantastic reviews on.
1.) 21st Street Coffee and Tea || This is a place I've been dying to go to, but just haven't had the time (I am a lazy girl). From what I've seen, the place is super laid-back with a cool, city vibe. One of my coffee snob friends says that their cold-brew is "to die for."
2.) Nicholas Coffee || Just walking into this place sends chills up my spine. All the coffee beans they sell make the entire shop sell like heaven. They don't just sell coffee beans, though. They sell tea-bagged and loose- as well as cigars, and of course freshly brewed. I am a creature of habit and get a vanilla latte each time, but I can tell you it is just the best.
3.) The Commonplace Coffeehouse || Another one I want to visit. As you may have guessed, I love vanilla lattes, and according to some reviews I've read the lattes are amazing. I want to try them so much! The place itself is adorable. I've walked past it a couple of times, and it's irresistible!
4.) Espresso A Mano || Such a great name, first of all. Maybe one of these days during summer, I will walk the strip and go to all these amazing coffee shops and indulge. This cafe screams cute and friendly. The chai lattes look amazing!
5.) Bluebird Kitchen || I've been in here a few times and I haven't been disappointed yet! They serve Counter Culture Coffee, and I always get and iced coffee. They also serve tons of pastries and sandwiches. I haven't ordered food there, but it smells amazing.
Favorite Pittsburgh Spots
Hey there!
Living downtown this past year has given me the time to explore a little. I have a few favorite spots around downtown that I decided I should share.

1.) Point State Park || Obviously. Not only is it a great place to go on a run or walk, but the view is just amazing.
2.) Duquesne Incline || This is the first thing I did when I got to school in the fall. The incline is only a dollar there and back for students and seniors, and the trip was worth it.
3.) North Shore || I usually walk there, but the T is free downtown (Allegheny, North Shore, Gateway, Wood St., Steel Plaza, First Ave.) and it will take you over the bridge. You can see the downtown skyline perfect, and there's also tons of stuff to do there.

4.) The Strip || Like I've mentioned before, I have only visited once, but I loved it. So many places to eat and shop, and is very Pittsburgh-esque.
5.) Any of the *thousands* of bridges || This is what Pittsburgh is known for! I'm actually pretty afraid of bridges, but I love looking at them. They're breathtaking.
